California Retired Teachers Association (CRTA), Harbor Beach Division 77 Scholarship Foundation

CalRTA’s mission is to protect and advocate for retired and active educators’ pensions and other retirement benefits, and to support public education in our communities.

The Harbor Beach, Division 77 became affiliated with CalRTA in 1985. Their membership number averages 545, with most of their members living in Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Irvine, and Newport Beach.

The members of CalRTA continue to show their support for California’s youth and current teachers by sponsoring scholarships and teacher grants. Year after year — at both the state and Division levels — CalRTA provides this financial support. Last year, CalRTA awarded nearly $600,000. In addition, the Laura E. Settle Scholarship Foundation, named after CalRTA’s founder, has bestowed millions of dollars in scholarships to California’s future teachers since it was created more than 50 years ago.

The California Retired Teacher’s Association Harbor Beach Division 77 Scholarship Foundation awards four $2,000 scholarships each year to local community college students who plan to go into teaching. One of these awards is dedicated to a student recipient selected at each of the following local community colleges: Coastline College, Golden West College, Irvine Valley College, and Orange Coast College.
